Since this year is the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China Tetristwo games that will soon be available on the Switch online platform, accompanied by a friendly message from their creator Alexey Pajitnov.

Although we already have the original Game Boy version Tetris Online via Switch, and as of today we also have the NES version Tetris and Tetris DX Colored for Game Boy.

The only thing I think is a bit unfair is that Pajitnov has subtitles in the video below, even though he speaks very good English. This reminds me of the unnecessary marquee sketch from the show a few years ago.

Although Pajitnov is indeed Russian, he does not appear to be incomprehensible when speaking English. So the subtitles do feel a bit out of place.

Anyway, other than that, I think it’s really cool that we have more classic versions Tetris available. Especially since these versions also support multiplayer, at least according to the trailer below.

Tetris It’s clearly a game in gaming history as a whole, and despite its success and a few semi-clones over the years, it’s still unlike anything else out there.

If you’re curious about the fascinating history behind Tetrisyou should also watch the movie of the same name released last year. It’s very well done, and while it somewhat simplifies what happened, the reality isn’t that far away.

Also, I also talked to Henk Rogers last year, how about the other half Tetris It has become a worldwide cultural phenomenon and the focus of recent movies.

Regardless, I’m glad the games are available again and that Pajitnov appears to be quite upbeat and cheerful.
