On Tuesday, the Chinese version of “Forbes” released its annual list of China’s best venture capitalists. Shen Nanpeng, a founding partner of Sequoia Capital (formerly Sequoia Capital China), topped the list.

This list of 100 people is modeled after the “Midas List” of successful American venture capitalists published annually by Forbes magazine. Forbes China said it considered returns from portfolio companies that were listed or acquired within the past five years, or that raised new funding at a valuation of more than $1 billion.

Mr. Shen, who ranked No. 1 for the seventh consecutive year, has successfully invested in Chinese internet companies, including TikTok parent company ByteDance, online clothing retailer Shein and Temu operator Pinduoduo. Today, the co-founder of China’s online travel leader Ctrip is worth $3.7 billion on Forbes’ real-time billionaire list.

The top three in the new Forbes China Venture Capital List are Liu Qiangdong, founding partner of Wuyuan Capital, and Li Zekai, president of Legend Capital.
