The Australian government has announced the completion of the structural architecture of the US$70.5 million (A$110.2 million) Koala Hospital redevelopment project.

With structural works completed, construction will now focus on interior fit-out, service installation and exterior fit-out.

When completed, the facility will house emergency, general medical and surgical wards, a maternity ward with a nursery, ambulatory care and a dental clinic.

Meanwhile, other facilities will include kidney dialysis, oncology services and the hospital’s first CT scanner.

Health services will continue to operate during the reconstruction process, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
