Healthy with Taiwan Sports is designed to attract health and sports advice.

Taiwan began its 2025 “Health with Taiwan” appeal on June 3 to propose recommendations aimed at attracting global health and sports technology stadiums to work with Taiwanese manufacturers and receive a $30,000 bonus.

Industry groups representing bicycles, sporting goods and medical equipment are supporting sports.

The campaign was led by the Foreign Affairs Bureau and organized by the Taiwan Trade Center (Taitra), and was initiated at the Nanmen Park of the Taiwan Museum in Taipei, Taiwan.

Up to three winning proposals will receive a prize of $30,000 each and have the opportunity to work with Taiwanese businesses. Finalists will be invited to Taiwan for competitions and related events, covering travel and accommodation.

The event was welcomed by the speech Qiao ZhouExecutive Vice President of Tatra, Susan HuDeputy Director of the Taiwan International Trade Bureau. The event also invited Taiwanese baseball player Lin An-Kuo and highlighted the country’s position in smart healthcare and health technology.

Before the event was launched, a media tour that also focused on Taiwanese companies and institutions active in Smart Healthcare, including Acer Medical, Benq Medical Technology, Onyx Healthcare, Taipei Veterans General Hospital Hospital, and Taipei Wellness Clinic and Resort.

These organizations demonstrate Taiwan’s capabilities in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) diagnosis, medical imaging, smart hospital systems and health tourism.

Medical tourism sees increased demand
According to Grand View Research, the global medical tourism industry is expected to reach a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.08% from 2025 to 2030.

This growth has been partially driven by Kai WangThe Royal Beitou Hotel reception and leisure development manager said the company aims to attract medical and relaxing health facilities for Taiwanese and international clients.

The hotel offers indoor and outdoor wellness activities, including fitness classes and rock climbing. It also has a moon spa with gender-separated hot springs and essential oil spa pool.

Sanitas Health Group provides comprehensive health services through Taipei health clinics and resorts, including MRI, CT scans and endoscopy, and provides a 24-hour call center, said James Chen, account director at Sanitas Health Group.

The hotel serves 26 guests a day and returns 20% for health checks. Mark ChenDeputy General Manager of Sanitas Health Group.

“That’s because we have limitations on the ability to have MRI and CT. So, it usually takes about 60 to 70 minutes per person with a full body health check,” said M. Chen. “There are about 10,000 per year,” he said.

Better technology means better equipment
As Taiwan’s medical equipment exports reach more than US$5 billion in 2023, Alex SC LinThe chief operating officer of Benq dialysis technology saw this market rapidly expanding to China, Southeast Asia (ASEAN region), the Middle East (KSA and UAE) and Latin America.

Lin added: “Benq is the only company in Taiwan’s medical industry that integrates expertise in optical machinery, electronics, medical materials, imaging and software to leverage its hospital clinical feedback for product innovation in its ultrasound products and IQOR products.”

In retrospect, Benq started as a joint venture and product distribution in the hemodialysis industry.

For the past 10 years, it has been developing its own products in dialyzers, dialysate concentrates and powders, hollow fiber and plastic components, central dialysis fluid delivery system equipment, and disinfection products to provide a complete system solution.

on the other hand, Allen’s LienAcer Medical, Inc. The chairman and CEO said the company is now standing on four pillars, all focusing on AI.

“The first is predictive AI, the second is generated AI, the third is AIOT, and the fourth is using AI for new drug development – including mRNA vaccines for cancer immunotherapy,” Lien said.

Acer’s technology has been deployed in 470 medical facilities in Taiwan, including 80% of the country’s academic medical centers.

But the impact goes beyond the boundaries. “We have deployed AI to diplomatic allies such as Belize, Laos and the Marshall Islands,” Lien noted. “For example, the prevalence of diabetes in Polynesian countries is high, but there are few ophthalmologists.”

Similarly, John BellOnyx Healthcare, Inc. The founder and CEO believes that the Ministry of Health is supporting the smart hospital program for growth potential in Southeast Asia.

Although hardware is its primary product, the company often works with software vendors and system integrators to ensure compatibility and ease of deployment.

“Our design process starts with medical use cases,” Chuang said. “We are not adjusting consumer PCs for hospitals, but building for medical applications from the beginning.”

Smart devices require smart hospitals
Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), one of Taiwan’s largest veterans hospitals, is advancing its smart hospital initiative by integrating AI, expanding international cooperation and focusing on hospital and home-based care. Wui-Chiang LeeVice President of TVGH.

For example, their sleep disorder program addresses undiagnosed sleep apnea through a combined AI model and wearable SPO₂ sensor. “We can only identify five issues to distinguish between insomnia and sleep apnea,” Albert Yangsaid the deputy director of the TVGH Medical AI Development Center. These include BMI, age, and symptoms such as coughing or s.

“With the new AI assistant, it took about a minute – actually saving 6.5 minutes per box.” Shu-chen KuoTVGH’s head of nursing describes how AI reduces workload for employees.

The campaign was held in the time before the Taiwan Medical Trade Fair, which was held at the Taipei North View Exhibition Center from June 5 to 7.
